Side by side of bentonite clay mask vs no product

// Max hydration method//

Bored in class one day this week, I started browsing the internet only to stumble upon the Max Hydration Method (MHM)! This is a five step method (can be modified) that is performed everyday or every three days for the first week! 1. Clarify 2. Cowash 3. Clay rinse 4. Leavin/finger detangle 5. Gel style/ or wash and go style.

So I had been noticing excessive shedding since straightening my hair the first time this summer 3wks ago. This could be attributed to stress, hormones, or the crazy Bama weather. Whatever it is, I knew something had to be done. Decided to try it out today after watching numerous videos and reading the benefits of the products used. I’m not gonna go into what the MHM suggested products are but I’ll quickly go over what I did. To clarify, I actually did my slightly modified protein treatment.( ACV, egg, mayo, honey, and soy sauce, VO5, and olive oil) typically I use yogurt, honey and oil but I wasn’t trying to make a store run. After letting that sit for about 20min I co-washed with my As I Am co-wash. My hair was no different as this is what I typically do. Next I used the Bentonite Calcium Clay, grape-seed oil, ACV and water mixture to coat my hair with the mask. Y’all when I tell you I’m the biggest skeptic, I was actually proven wrong. Having 4a/b/c textured hair I’m never really able to embrace the curly texture. My hair instantly lost shrinkage and began to coil!!!

Still remaining a bit skeptic I rinsed the mask out after 30 minutes.( I started to feel a tingling sensation at the top of my head and it started to itch) they clay rinsed with ease and my hair was noticeably shinier and softer!!! Amazing!!! The kinky curly knot today leave-in was the first conditioner I bought during my transition journey 2yrs ago. I stopped using it for making my hair sticky and gunky, but decided to try it today. It was so much slip and actually seemed to condition my hair. Mainly because the clay purified my scalp and hair completely I guess. The finger detangling process was an ease as well! I styled using the LCO method. I am going to repeat the step Sunday since I clearly don’t have time to do this everyday! I think I’ve found a good thing for me though guys!

Has anyone else tried this? Share your thoughts and experiences? I love to modify things to my accessibility!

Curl definition changed drastically from morning:right to evening:left. Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie and Shea butter used to enhance curls. Only lasted for one day though, mostly because of the heat. What would you recommend to enhance the curls and make them last???
